“Experience Ghana in December 2019 with Dstination Ghana for Year of Return’’

2019 marks 400 years since the first enslaved Africans arrived in Jamestown, Virginia. With the initiative of ‘Year of Return 2019’ and the call from the president ‘His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo’, Ghana is inviting Africans from the diaspora and everyone else interested in having a life-changing experience to come back home. This call is also to celebrate the resilience of our ancestors that were widely dispersed all over the world.

What is Dstination Ghana?

Dstination Ghana is a social enterprise founded by Kobby Ofori, former president of the University of Salford Students Union as well as CEO of NexusHub  www.thenexushub.co.uk  (a property management company in Manchester)

What is the aim of Dstination GH?

The aim of Dstination Gh in partnership with the Ghanaian Students Societies in Manchester is to take people of African descent and everyone else interested on a cultural journey. Student and participants also get the opportunity to be part of ‘The better Education charitable project’ to raise money to buy essential supplies to some selected deprived schools in Accra.

Edem and Kobby arrived in the UK three years ago and within a short amount of time, they have been able to inspire and have a positive impact on students and other individuals around campus. Engaging with people from all walks of life and different nationalities, they noticed the huge cultural divide between Africans in the diaspora and Africans back home and for this reason, wanted to bridge the gap in order to change the narrative.

“The initiative by Dstination Ghana, the Ghanaian Student Societies in MCR and other individual falls in line with the Government of Ghana’s YEAR OF RETURN’ s drive. The volunteering bit is a game changer. Kudos to all those behind this”
