The book Finding purpose: Lessons in life and living by Oby Bamidele is one that I highly recommend. I don’t know about you but sometimes I find myself lost in my thoughts thinking about what is my real purpose on earth.
I believe that everyone at some point during this journey called life has been questioning themselves and tried to find an answer to this question.
Many of us believe that a career or a job title before our name is the purpose in our lives but I don’t believe that to be the case.
In this book, Oby takes us through her journey and teaches us that it’s okay to not have all the answers we are searching for and that we should rather surrender everything to God.
In my opinion, an interesting part of her journey is the fact that no matter how much she tried to conform to society or listen to people views of life, she always found herself having to stay true to herself and her beliefs. Many are living someone else’s life just because they want to be accepted by friends or because they want to make family proud; however, in relation to Oby’s story, the moment she made the decision to live life her own way that’s when all her questions were answered.
It was also evident that faith helped her to get back on track whenever she was feeling lost as well as during the times she used to compare herself to friends and feeling sorry for herself.
Overall, from reading this book I’m sure that many will relate to her story and will find the courage to step out of their comfort zone because that’s the moment when God can really pick you up and show you that he has always been with you. It is at this moment that he will open your eyes and direct you to your true calling on earth.
